Father's Day
The idea for creating a day to honour fathers began when Sonora Smart Dodd was listening to a Mother's Day sermon in 1909. Having been raised by her father, William Jackson Smart, after her mother died, Sonora wanted her father to know how special he was. Sonora's father was born in June so she chose 19th June, 1910 to celebrate Father's Day.
In 1926 a National Father's Day Committee was formed in New York City and in 1956 Father' Day was recognised by a joint Resolution of Congress, however it was not until 1972 that President Richard Nixon established a permanent national observance of Father's Day to be held on the third Sunday of June.
In Australia, Father's Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of September.
What better way is there to celebrate Father's Day than to take the whole family to The Pancake Parlour for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Father's Day is one of the busiest days of the year at The Pancake Parlour restaurants. To ensure we can provide the best possible service on this day we have a special Father's Day menu.
